CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS IN NYC
FIRST SUNDAYS at MAHA ROSE ::: A New Monthly Series
Next up: Transforming the Inner Critic
Sunday, October 7th, 3-5pm
Our strong emotions are encoded with a direct and clear path to healing the past experiences and limiting beliefs in our lives that keep us stuck in repetitive patterns. Hidden within them is rich transformative insight. When we know how to "hear", relate to, and process this information, we deepen our intuition and ability access visceral love and compassion. It takes guts, guidance, and practice, but it is utterly possible to become your own healer and therapist, and a powerful one at that. The truth is, what we call "negative emotions" have the ability to teach us things no one else can. They are pregnant with the seed of our liberation.
At the crossroads of evidence-based psychology, neuroscience, ancient shamanic journeying, and Tibetan Buddhism is Emotional Alchemy: a new monthly workshop series offered by author, therapist, and seasoned teacher Ralph De La Rosa. On the first Sunday of each month we will explore a new theme related to working with our emotions, core hurts, negative beliefs, intimacy issues, and compulsive behaviors in meditation. This series will go beyond mere coping and managing ourselves and into how we can actually resolve such burdens in meaningful and lasting ways....read more
EMOTIONAL FREEDOM THROUGH MEDITATION
Four Wednesdays, 6 - 7:30pm
November 7th - December 5th
NY Open Center
Difficult emotions tend to override us, causing confusion and harm, but they are not our enemies. Rather, they are like messengers sounding an alarm, calling us to look deeper within ourselves, longing for us to heal. In this class, psychotherapist and meditation teacher Ralph de la Rosa will draw from Buddhist methods, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Internal Family Systems, and somatic and mindfulness based approaches to teach us meditations and on-the-spot practices for relating to our emotions in new ways. You’ll learn methods for working with the inner critic and intrusive thoughts, anger, anxiety, childhood hurts, and sadness in order to unburden these parts of yourself. Paradoxically enough, the result of this work is clearing more room for joy, calm, and connection.
NOTE: class will *not* meet the week of Thanksgiving
THE MONKEY IS THE MESSENGER
BOOK LAUNCH + CELEBRATION
Monday, November 12th
Have you ever said the words "My mind is so busy, I really need to meditate"? If so, we have the book (event) for you. Join MNDFL teacher Ralph De La Rosa for the launch of his first book! Through a guided meditation Ralph will introduce evidence-based, somatic, and trauma-informed insights and practices. He'll then be joined by Head Teacher Adreanna Limbach in conversation around a simple question: if you were to stop demonizing your monkey mind, would it have anything to teach you? In a roundabout way, could repetitive thoughts be pointing us in the direction of personal—and even societal—transformation? Let's find out and celebrate the release of the book, The Monkey Is the Messenger (bonus: price of admittance includes a copy of the book).

Transforming Our Emotional Lives with Somatic Mediation
Four Wednesdays, 7-9pm
June 13th - July 11th (skips July 4th)
Narayan Yoga Project, Greenpoint, BK
The body is a veritable cosmos; it is the storehouse of all our emotions and lived experiences; it is the seat of a powerful intuition; and it holds the key to discovering true quietude and serenity in meditation. And yet each of us tends to live life up in our heads, ensconced in never ending thought, all the while wondering why our traumas aren't healing in therapy, why were sometimes confused by our reactions to things, and why we seem to have lost touch with our life's direction and purpose.
For four weeks, we will utilize meditation and breathwork to reclaim our inherent relationship to the body. You will learn how to restore and require your nervous system and how to establish wakeful spaciousness in meditation.
Please bring pen and paper. Please come prepared to meditate lying down. All workshops recorded in case you miss a class, and so you will have our guided meditations to use at home forever.
Beginners to meditation welcome.
Those who have previously found meditation to not work for them are encouraged.
GETTING FREE FROM TRAUMA AND REPETITIVE PATTERNS
Four Wednesdays, May 2nd, 9th, 16th, and 23rd
7-9pm | at Narayana Yoga Project in Greenpoint-Williamsburg Brooklyn.
Anxiety, depression, anger, worry, loss of direction, the inner critic, compulsive behaviors,
painful cycles in relationships – believe it or not, these are not our enemies. They are
messengers, sounding the alarm, calling our attention to what longs to be healed at our depths.
We already have within us the intelligence, wisdom, curiosity, and compassion needed to heal
such troublesome patterns at their very root. What we all need help with is accessing these wiser
aspects of ourselves.

The stress and hustle of our lives too often force us to disconnect from our bodies, shut down our emotions, forsake our connection to nature and betray our deeper intentions and values. And then we wonder why we’re anxious. Or why our relationships aren’t working. Or why we can’t focus. Or sleep at night. Or figure out what we’re really meant to do with our lives. When we turn around to reclaim that connection, something almost magical happens: we discover our innate ability to let go, to achieve true rest, and navigate our lives in profound, new ways. We reclaim our deeper nature... Read more

Heart Healing is a two-week series where you'll learn how to be with your emotions in this new way. The beauty of IFS is that you can practice it on your own without the presence of a therapist. You'll learn both a healing process you can do on your own as a formal meditative practice, and solid techniques for working with your emotions on the spot in everyday life so that you're less hijacked by them at work, in relationships, and beyond.
